For a while now, I have been editing exif data from my pictures with gThumb.
It was easy, contained (almost) all the fields I needed, and showed up in Flickr,
and although I am still interested in the possibility to insert a watermark in RT,
I am more and more getting into electronic copyright and licensing.
Unfortunately, although the presence of a meta data menu in RT,
inserting and editing is limited, that is why I use gThumb – until today.
I never realised that profiles are not only very interesting for editing pictures,
but also very usable for inserting and editing exif data !
A non editable field like “software” or “camera make” in RT,
can easily be edited thru profiles and changed to a more personal description,
also adding new fields can be done this way.
Attention : in “Preferences”, you need to uncheck “copy exif/IPTC/XMP unchanged to output file” in “Image Processing” ->
“Metadata” , otherwise nothing will be changed.
Following the steps explained in my article “RawTherapee Profile Creation”
you can create a profile containing only meta data,
and this pp3 file can be edited, new labels can be added, etc
Example:

Title=Testing picture with Exif add
This is a RAW picture with its exif data :
In “Preferences”, you need to uncheck “copy exif/IPTC/XMP unchanged to output file” in “Image Processing” ->
“Metadata” :
Load an earlier prepared pp3 file, in this case it is MetaFX.pp3 – use the “load profile from file” button top right :
Look at the changed exif and IPTC data :
An example will be added later to PictureFX Profiles as MetaFX,
of course you will need to edit it to your own needs.
